I think you're right that 6/1 6/2 is safer in the long run, but one also has to consider how long the long run will be. White has a little bit of time to dally in your board but not a lot. By the time 5/off 5/1 leaves a shot, White has a good chance of being forced to leave anyway. For this reason I would play 5/off 5/1 here. If we were to put White further behind in the race then I think 6/1 6/2 would become more attractive. If we move White's outfield blot a lot closer to home then I'm pretty confident 5/off 5/1 would be much better.
