Vaguely related position from "New Ideas in Backgammon"

I was reminded of position 34 from New Ideas in Backgammon by Heinrich and Woolsey. I looked it up last night but forgot to bring the book with me, so maybe there's a small detail wrong in the position below but I think this is right. Anyway, the point is that it's a position where Blue holds the 24 point and the 20 point and has a 4-4 to play, and has to decide whether to hold the 24 and the 16 or the 20 and the 16. It turns out that holding the 24 and the 16 is right despite the apparent disconnection of the rear checkers from the rest of the army, because Blue really needs a shot and this is the best way to generate one.
It's not really comparable to our position, though, because we're nowhere near as far behind in the race and we can keep a single checker (rather than an anchor) on the 24 point to stand guard without fear of getting crushed like a bug. But, the Woolsey-Heinrich position is the reason I stopped to consider 20/16(3), which nobody else seems to have even looked at.
