I think these positions are not so hard to make sense of. For the first two positions, I don't find the difference between the top two plays to be large enough that we can expect a verbal explanation, and an explanation has already been given for the DMP play. The fact that money play doesn't differ significantly from DMP play here just suggests that Blue doesn't win enough gammons to make much difference.

For the third position (DMP), the point is that White has too many spare pips to be zugzwanged. That is, he's not going to be forced to leave just because he rolls a normal number of pips. Thus he needs to be encouraged along by being hit and shown the 6-point door.

In the last position, Blue's gammon chances are significant and hitting while keeping the five-point board is the best play for the gammon. Apparently it's worth the extra blotting risk.
