The easiest way to calculate it (at least for me) is to calculate the probabilities of n people not having the same birthday. Maybe that is because when I first heard the problem in a statistics class the "hint" that when along with it was that sometimes it is easier to calculate the probability of something not happening, so that is the way I went about it.
