Are you looking for classic backgammon books?

Hi Neil:
I too was led astray by Barclay; P & P was the third book I read, and was dangerous for a beginner. But at the same time he was the most inspirational writers who ever wrote about the game. Magriel may have helped you play well, but Barclay made you passionate about playing well, and that counts for a lot.
Championship Backgammon was the first published annotated match, and captures a bit of backgammon history. I agree that beginners should be cautioned, but otherwise I would recommend the book to anyone.
Best,
Jake
PS Robertie told me awhile back that he was approached by David Dorel, author of The Clermont Club Book Of Backgammon. Dorel was in possession of the remaining 56 games from the duplicate championship. Sadly, he was under the impression he was sitting on a gold mine, and wanted a fortune to part with them. There's a book there, but the return would not pay for the work; it would be a labor of love for whoever did the annotation. Realistically Dorel might ask for a co author credit, but he is dreaming if he thinks backgammon books are paving stones on the road to riches.
PPS There was a Lamborghini on fire at the bus stop outside my complex. You haven't been driving around Singapore lately?
