In the context that I use it, its more of a basketball metaphor. When you throw up a brick, it means that you missed an easy shot, or messed up something that you shouldnt have. So, in dice parlance, that really means finding a relatively poor roll.
I dont play basketball - I think I heard the term in a movie or something, and it stuck with me, becoming associated with decidedly below average performance. In dice terms is the only way I use it. Or if I played way below my average in a match, I would say that I put up a brick in that match. But it still refers more to die rolls (I think at least).
So, relative to this position (for white), a brick is 51,52,53,55. A superbrick is 33 maybe 22.
