Nice and simple generic rules may work well for large numbers but small numbers may fail to fit the curve. I think that is what is happening with one-pointers.

For example while the average number of games played per match may scale cleanly with match length, the average number of decisions per game is clearly skewed at DMP where a cube cannot shorten the game. This may be part of the explanation.
