Late game containment

What was your play? I didn't understand your sentence, "If I keep it, I get a double shot at a second checker."

Stick put the point rather bluntly, but I will say that I have a tendency in these sorts of positions to focus too much on my opponent's good rolls and not enough on my opponent's typical rolls. It's important to plan for success as well as for failure. Among the crowd I usually play with, there is often chatter about "blocking 66" and "blocking 55." It's worth checking those jokers out, of course, but just because it's a containment position doesn't mean that one should abandon the general principle of looking at average rolls first and jokers second.
