my two cents

Since Rich has asked for all viewpoints, here's mine. Although I don't mind if you keep these won/lost statistics--and thereby creating a ranking--I wonder what is the point? Will we find out whether Ray is better than Rod? Will we learn if Rich is as good as Stick? Will we at last be convinced that Neil is pretty skillful?
As far as large skill differences between individual players are concerned, I think everyone already knows the score. Nobody thinks Keene is as good as JOH, for example. As far as small differences are concerned, who cares? For example, I don't know whether I am a better or worse player than Sean Garber or Scott Casty or Claude Landry, and finding out the answer based on a couple of years of match results is of vanishingly small interest to me. The way things stand now, each of Scott, Sean, Claude, and I can choose to believe that he is himself the best of the bunch, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for tournament bg.
I think the the formation of the USBGF is a good thing, but I wonder if some of the energies might be driven along a more useful avenue...
