I agree that ratings can be valuable in some instances. Ratings are a major reason people play on gg and other servers. Obviously, in chess, ratings are a primary reason people go to tournaments. I think the differences are pretty clear among USCF chess, online bg and live tourney bg play.

As I said, I don't mind if you guys keep the records and create some kind of ELO system. I'll probably even look my rating up--I think I tend to win at least half of my matches, so it won't be so bad. But I wouldn't pay a nickel for a tournament rating.
