Assuming that the "gammon" figure is meaningful, this is roughly what I, as well as I think Neil Robins, was thinking when making the 2-point in preparation for possibly paying next roll. You'll notice that paying now by breaking the 16 point wins a lot more "gammons" and loses more "games." A potential exchange of hits will naturally drive up the gammons. Your observation about the top two plays in the XG rollout is I think a weak echo of this effect.
