Another thing with older people is health. In draughts, I have had to play older people who got into potential time trouble - in those cases I have often 'forgotten' to press my clock, on the one hand because I felt for older people time pressure is not enjoyable, but also because I was worried over health. Not sure this is not taking it too far - but in any case, I was/am a fast player, so giving my time to my opponent did not affect me much. I have no experience with clocked BG matches, so am not sure how I would handle that.

But some good rules to protect older players might be a good idea.
