Elderly players and time clocks

Increasing the delay time for a player whose physical impairment prevents him from manipulating dice and checkers in the normally allotted time sounds like a fine idea. But any player, however undextrous, inexperienced, unyouthful or socially inept, who waited until he had only 2 minutes left on his clock to ask me for more time would get the same answer: no.

You have issues that you feel need special accommodation? Talk to the director before the tournament starts.

Or ... continue attending tournaments, never saying a word, so that after the next tournament someone else can start another discussion about accomodating your disability, prompting many other fine and sympathetic suggestions for how to address the issue. Like here, here, here, and here.
