For me bar/22 5/4* is the "automatic" play. On further reflection perhaps bar/22 21/20 is better—when defending, make defensive plays. Not sure. I think I'll go with bar/22 5/4*; it does take away half of White's roll, and I have a slightly stronger board with more checkers back.
