Paul, be sure not to share your theory with anyone, or they may start learning something.

But you only answered half the question. Do you double here? In practice I'm sure I would double against most opponents because I would get passes, but I'm very uncertain whether it's theoretically a double. Losing a redoubled gammon here is quite possible and very unpleasant.
