I am not sure, but I believe Nack's position is better. The sequence required in this position may start with 5 different doublets rather than precisely 1-1. And, it may be followed by other rolls which eventually keep white from moving on more than one specific roll. So even though the final sprint is less likely from this position, it is more likely overall.
