I told the person I think Mr. Miyagi has the answer: You either do clocks yes, or clocks no!

I think you crossed movies here and were quoting Yoda instead of Mr. Miyagi.

The main purpose of clocking matches is to keep things running smoothly but they serve as more than just a time keeper. They help the game itself run a lot cleaner and that's also a reason I like to see them used even if it's the finals and the match isn't holding anyone else's matches up.
