Actually, cross-pollination of rollout results is the one situation in which I DO advocate using the same seed. It seems to me (as it does to Stick) there is a bit less variance, possibly because the way that the seeds match up the initial rolls and replies.

The danger in routinely using the same seed (even if it's one nobody else would think to use) is that every once in a while you'll accidentally assign or roll out the same position twice and waste data; that's why I recommend random seed for general usage. But if you are able to anticipate a cross-pollination (such as 41S-54R + 41S-63R, or 63S-11N + 43S-11N), in that case it is better to use the same seed. It's a special case.
