I believe you intended to entitle your first diagram "D" (or 9) and the second one "P" (or 4), where the hit part of the play is assumed. (With no hit assumption, you could use b for the first and c for the second.)

After 41$-44P, I agree that it's better to fan with 44 or 64 than with 66. But my primary reason is that it requires less effort. Also, it is slightly less likely that after the match my opponent will complain that I rolled bigger than he did.
