Prime v. prime

I was wondering about that. It seems to me that, at least in certain gammicidal positions, it can be a bigger error for the leader to cube regardless of whether the trailer takes or passes. I am not saying this is one of those positions but think about it: suppose the trailer's cubeless chances here are around 26% and so, if he drops by mistake, he is giving up a little over 1% match equity. If the leader's gammon percentage is high enough, then just turning the cube and killing those immediate match wins in exchange for a single point "cash" could constitute far more than a 1% blunder.
The other thing to consider, though, is that the trailer also has access to the cube and can therefore kill the leader's gammons anyway. So, in that sense, maybe there is an element of perfect-opponent-2-away, 2-away strategy going on at this match score, too: in other words, if a position is gammonish enough, the leader might as well double because the trailer will double anyway if the leader doesn't.
You see? That's why I don't post here more often. Two or three blurbs and already my head is about to explode from all the stuff that I am incapable of figuring out.
