Nice analysis, Daniel. My opponent played the inferior 14/11 14/9, and I would have too, wanting to keep shots to a minimum and take my chances in the race. That was the wrong idea.

Given that the correct theme is to maintain contact, I figured holding the 14pt would be best since it's farther back and about as safe. But I think you are right in pointing to a subtle type of duplication here. Big rolls are already good for Black, so it's better to make those his hitting numbers rather than making smaller rolls work well for him also.
