I haven't spent any time figuring how to handle rating differences, but it seems like they could change things considerably here. You figured MEs of 9 and 40 percent to get a TP of 22.5. Against Neil, JL won't do as well. If his actual percentages are 8 and 39, that would bring the TP to 20.5. If they were 7 and 38, the TP would be only 18.4.

I have no idea if these numbers are realistic adjustments for the differences in playing strength, but against Neil, in an all luck position, I'd be inclined to take/recube this for a quick shot to get back into the match.

OTB, I knew what my TP was, and that I certainly didn't have 22.5%... so I knew it was technically a pass... is the skill difference enough for me to muster a take? That's the question you asked, and the one I pondered at the time.
