I recommend that you do your own modern rollouts of these positions and also alter them slightly; shift a made point, add/remove one builder and so on.

These positions show clearly the huge safety that the underdog gets from a made 5pt or some outfield point.

Not to mention the 5pt AND the bar AND two men in your homeboard. AND the race deficit of the attacker...

I am surprised that nobody is giving good reasons about this position or advice.

The replies I read don't seem to be helpful for an intermediate player I guess.
