I have a slight confession to make. We didn't record the position and I don't remember the exact position. In fact, as I rack my brain now I think White's board was probably slightly weaker...if you move one of the checkers from White's ace point back to White's 4 point, creating a 3-point board with a blot, then I think that is closer to the position we actually had. Does that change your play?
In our chouette we consult on checker plays. The first suggestion from the team was 14/6. The captain didn't like that and was looking at 20/12. I didn't like 14/6 either and pointed out that another option was 20/14 plus a board-breaking 2. While I was still trying to take in the position, the captain played 20/14 4/2 and picked up the dice. The team eventually lost the game and the board-breaking play was criticized for giving the box too much leeway in making bold anchor-breaking plays.
I wish I had recorded the position but I have only just started trying to convince people that it's worth stopping and taking photos of interesting positions.
