However, consider the issue of manual dice. Since cheating with electronic dice is probably easier than cheating with manual dice, I think people will demand manual dice. In that case, the illegal-move issue will resurface: What if I punch the wrong dice into the iPad?
In a tournament in which some people are using wooden boards and others are using electronic boards, the wooden board players might insist that the electronic players use real dice because electronic dice are so fast (and never cock) that they'd give the electronic players a time advantage.
I don't see any need to enter the manual dice rolls. Just move your checkers as you do on a real board. You won't get a transcript of the rolls of the game, but you'll still have a transcript of the plays (and you'll be able to figure out most of the dice rolls from the plays.)
