One thing that is always true regarding tournaments that are held on holiday weekends is that many families have traditions around some of these holidays that preclude playing backgammon. My wife and I always have a week at the beach that leads into Memorial Day.

I don't object to using holidays for backgammon tournaments, just the opposite, but this factor comes up for some people.

And Neil is totally off the hook for wanting to watch the Hawks play in the Stanley Cup finals!
