I want to develop the midpoint with 13-11 with the deuce. That's the key to making the bar point and only a 64 reply hits.
Black will make an inner board point with some rolls. But, the most common variation (Perry's term) is to make the bar point. After the bar is made, splitting 24-23 will not allow direct escaping sixes. And, it will often face a builder on the eight as opposed to the stripped eight point after an opening 61. Splitting looks relatively ineffective.
Playing 6-5 with the ace doesn't have the risks or rewards of a second move slotting play. It does fit the priming theme.
13-10 is worthy of consideration since 54 doesn't hit, 33 won't hit and 63 is duplicated. However, even without going through the variations, it doesn't look like shifting the outfield blot would add as much value as one of the two developing aces.
13-11, 6-5
