120 Hours of Non-Stop Backgammon

A related skill is being able to write down the entire game from memory afterwards. When I was playing chess regularly, I could do this easily (at least for a non-blitz time control). I haven't tried for backgammon but I'm sure it is much more difficult. As you say the random rolls make things harder. Memorizing a backgammon game is like memorizing a sequence of random numbers with a bunch of checkers as a mnemonic aid. Folks who can memorize 100,000 digits of pi can probably do it easily but most of us can't.
