Staying back, we might have two or three rolls to pick up another checker, not just one.

Between 8 6 and 9 5, on our "nightmare roll" 2-2, 8 6 is better -- spares go to 4 and 2 point instead of 3 and 3.

I vote for 8 and 6 again ;-
