Maybe. On the other hand, people don't seem to have trouble kowtowing to those who have demonstrated their superior backgammon skill. I think it's more that people have a strong tendency to evaluate an assertion based on who is saying it and how much they respect that person, rather than on its intrinsic merits. I'm sure that if someone who didn't know me were to go to my website and study my c.v. then they would then start giving more weight to my mathematical assertions than they should.

Now you and I have a problem, since I'm right on your ass in the PostWhore Standings.
