It could be. Certainly, I'm sure no malice was intended. However, if you had that first impression, and I had that impression, then others are going to have that impression, whether it's accurate or not. I think it's worth calling out these subtle and unintentional effects so that people are more conscious of what impressions they're creating.

Point taken. But... is this a BGO problem or an internet message board problem?

I'm sure that if someone who didn't know me were to go to my website and study my c.v. then they would then start giving more weight to my mathematical assertions than they should.

To 99.99% of the population, the stuff on your CV (like, what's a CV?) is mumbo jumbo.

I shouldn't have said anything... I've no chance of catching you at the current pace... you've gone PAST me. This site started in late 2006, and I first posted in December 2006... looks like you first chimed in July 2009, so have fun on your way up.
