Correct to double and correct to beaver

I played this out a number of times, winning all, one gammon. Some observations:
While keeping the 6-prime, you'd like to slot the next point of the prime as early as possible; if not, prepare to slot. Sometimes if your spares seem to overrun the position, you can double-slot. While doing this, pay attention to how 44 plays (55 usually will not be a big problem because you'll retain (at least) a 5 prime, 33 is usually great, 66 is great except on the starting roll); sometimes you can make sure that it plays OK.
Beijing hit is OK if you keep your 6 prime - it gives time to roll forward. Keep you 15 checkers working together. When you bear off, pay attention - the speed board is to be feared, so speed is quite important in relation to safety.
I think what is easy to cloud the picture when playing out this position is that some difficulties in rolling the prime forward may occur. From that it is easy to get the impression that the double taker has real chances; however, these difficulties don't occur that often, and usually you need some precise rolling to take advantage. So I think, playing it out, it is easy to have an inflated impression about the difficulties. Just keep score of what happens.
