The cube action is not really any clearer to me than it was a year ago. I was willing to take it on faith that it was a drop, and I'm still taking it on faith. If I somehow decided that I wanted to acquire more secure knowledge of the situation, I would probably write a dynamic program to solve (a slightly idealized version of) the problem optimally rather than manually play it out. There are other areas of the game that I'd rather spend time on.
