You want to stick around for the shot but you also want to get off the gammon when you don't get it/hit it. 8/5 2/1 seems like the perfect compromise. If you do hit the shot, an ace shot, you will have no problem covering the blots/remaking your board. In fact, all your aces except 61 and 51 would cover the now blotted two point immediately giving you the best 5pt board. 51 could be used to make the ace of course.
