Yes, never underestimate the importance of the race even in these early game situations. If the play to be made on distribution alone I think anchoring up would be the clear winner. I wouldn't call our opponent's position exactly 'stripped and inflexible' but I agree with the point I believe you were trying to make. Unless he rolls some natural numbers immediately he will cough up many indirect shots and in that case, we have a lot of coverage and adding the 5pt to our arsenal would help greatly. Making the offensive 5pt also prepares for the old adage of attack one, prime two. (is 'old adage' redundant? probably...)
