Oops, for 52S-63, I failed to notice that you were asking about X (hit and split), and rather I focused on H (hit and down).

Had I noticed, I would have probably have used a two-stage comparison (first 52S-64H vs 52S-63H as I did, then 52S-63 H vs X). The problem with hitting and splitting to the 18pt, as Casper pointed out, is that Opp can hit back with aces. You can infer that from my notes as well -- I referred to Opp's airballs of 41 and 51 after hit-and-down. It is especially undesirable to split against a four-checker 8pt: 52S-63X is an error of .081, whereas 52S-63H is an error of only .037.

There are 6x replies against a three-checker 8pt where X beats H (32S-62 and 43S-61), but only just barely; it is safer to give preference to H when you're uncertain.

Nack
