Scrambling two checkers

Nice problem. My first instinct was to run, but:
(1) the race is even, so even when you succeed in running the back checkers to safety, you are not yet winning the game (although you'd have an edge).
(2) the hits are many, and put blue significantly behind in the race. White's board is also better, so this may easily lead to some gammon losses.
(3) there is no immediate big threat against Blue, so Blue should not be in a hurry to escape.
(4) 14/6 is constructive, adding a builder to extent the prime.
I think this all adds up to 14/6 being the correct play
