I have to admit that I'd not realized that these two plays were close and always played S. My memory must have been stuck on a shorter GNU RO than the 46k size that Stick has now updated to. (Err updated unless I somehow missed this b4)

I guess what is happening is that S loses considerably more than Z when it is attacked and that after Z if you make the 22 pt you still have an anchor that can directly see daylight in the outfield.
