Subject line changed for Nack's benefit.
Thanks, Tim. (It might also help someone searching for the position later.)
Casper proposed two variants:
- Give Blue a roll of 51 instead of 41
- Return Blue's 11pt builder to his midpoint
On the left is Chuck's original position. On the right is the position without the 11pt builder. In both positions, the "41/51" at the end of the play string means that Blue's roll can be either 41 or 51.
With Blue's 41 in the left position (as originally posed), $ (slot, Bar/21 6/5) looks like a standout. The deck is stacked. Not only does $ triplicate 4s, but it also diversifies Blue's own 6s and 1s (the numbers that will not enter if he is hit) to cover or hit back on the 5pt. Any other play looks blunderish to me.

I think Blue should play $ also if his roll is 51, or if his 11pt builder is taken away. If both changes are made -- i.e., 51 is rolled on the right-hand position, I suppose I'd slot anyway though I would tend to recommend U (Up, Bar/20 23/22) to a weaker player. (At DMP, I'd confidently slot in all four cases.)
If Blue feels intimidated by White's two-point board, he should remember that other than making it more difficult for Blue's checkers to enter from the roof, the two checkers on White's ace point are out of play, meaning that she will have two fewer spares with which to play. If Blue gets one or more additional checkers sent back (but stabilizes as he is heavily favored to do), it will be that much harder for White to safely bring her position home.
(If you dislike that White played opening 51R to reach the right-hand position, you can make it more palatable by increasing the length of the move string; e.g., 63R-21H-61R-53K-52U-42L-41/51.)
