I agree. Aiming for a second checker is kind of fun, but you should be able to do so safely, and here you are leaving an immediate 61 joker and 11 semi-joker. You are also not likely to make the bar. As you are a favorite to win the game if you just close out the checker, your gain from picking up a second one is not as big as it can be. Conclusions:

(1) you will not often pick up a second checker from here;

(2) the gain when you pick up a second checker is not very large;

(3) if you fail to pick up a second checker and your opponent jokers home, the loss is big;

(4) the joker home scenario happens quite often;

(5) not closing the homeboard may mean Chocolate improves his race

All this means that in this position, not closing out is likely a significant error.
