In Response To: Largest possible pipcount for race leader? (Paul Weaver)

"I had been wondering for some time what my opponent's pip count was when he had all fifteen on the roof and now I know."

That would be 15 X 25. If you notice that one number is 5 lower than 20 and the other is 5 greater than 20 you should be able to see the relevance of the identity (x+y)(x-y) = x^2 - y^2 and can calculate perhaps more quickly as 25 x 15 = (20 + 5)(20-5) = 20^2 - 5^2 = 400 - 25 = 375.
