B/21 wins more games, but it also loses more gammons. B/24 puts the checker in aa safer spot, and allows us to start building the board with 8/4. The idea would be to postpone stepping up until we have a better board. Meanwhile, we would have 'stumble equity', because the bot may leave hittable fly shots in the process of building and rolling the prime forward. Also, the three checker on the bar need to be activated at some point, and that also offers possibilities for counter-play. Agree, B/24 8/4 is a passive move. It may also be a worse move than B/21 6/5, but I think it is close, and I really doubt that B/24 8/4 would be very weak.
