"Your opponents is .672, higher than yours, since a gammon is very efficient for him. You should only be slightly more aggressive than at money in going for a gammon and you should be quite a bit more protective in avoiding gammons."
Suppose your opponent owns the cube in a money game and you make a play that gives him say 10% more gammon wins but 5% fewer game wins over an alternative. Cubeless it is an even trade but cubeful you have probably made a good play since the more that the cubeless equity is composed of plain wins the higher the cube power is likely to be. Neil talks about that point frequently on this board. Doug Zare wrote an article on this idea and suggested that perhaps thinking of the gammon price as .4 instead of .5 is suitable.
I think a similar phenomenon is at play at the 6 away 4 away score with the 4 away player holding a 2 cube but with much more force. Even though the gammon price is higher than for money those extra gammons give him no extra cube power. Giving him extra game wins does give him extra cube power. So I disagree that one should be a bit more protective avoiding gammons here.
I still agree with the play though for the other reasons listed.
