Winning a "won" game

I think you should have redoubled, and it would have earned a drop against me, FWIW. Blue is ahead by a lot, and may send a fourth checker back. When that happens, you will have some decent gammon chances even playing against the three-point anchor, and more importantly, White may not be able to free a checker on time. Only 8 playable pips of White's offensive side of the board before White's forward position is compromised, so White often won't have a good board when hitting a shot. This is important, because in other similar positions with the 4 point and 7 point open and 2 point made, and the 8,9 and 11 point to clear against a 3-point anchor, I think the take would be easy.
With the 43, I'd hit, even if owning the cube. If you play 9/2, your chances of making some key point to come home are considerably reduced, and White may make the bar-point or run the checker on the 18, with a very playable game. 11/8 11/7* leaves only 7 shots (52 is blocked, and 4s duped), and leaves an excellent distribution to make either the bar- or 4 point, and solves the issue of clearing the 11.
