Step up or stay back?

Step up! Staying back gives White a wide range of options: pointing on you, escaping the back checker, making the five point, making the deuce point, etc., etc., etc. Frankly, it is hard to imagine ANY bad rolls for White if you hang back.
All the while, your problem still remains: escaping junior. Coming to the 20 point places immediate pressure on White to contain your back checker or escape his back checker to safety. It duplicates many of his best 5-point making rolls, and it puts pressure on White's outfield.
If White picks and passes to make the deuce point, you have some immediate escaping numbers. And if White points on your head, then your have a direct shot at the blot on the 2 point and several indirect shots at White's blot on your 3 point.
The race and position scream out for a contact-provoking play. At the moment, this is NOT a prime versus prime battle. This is an attack or be attacked battle, unless you hang back on the 24 point. If you hang back, then you cede control to White to decide unilaterally what type of game this is going to be, and I don't think he will have your best interests in mind.
