I think the only tournament in the world with a stronger field than the world championship is the Nordic Open.

Just because there are some rich fish in Monte doesn't mean it's a walkover to make it to the money rounds.

Those are long matches in MC which is to the advantage of the stronger players.

Throughout the years we have seen some very good players win the world championship.

This year I think there were some good players participating too, though maybe not as many as previous years. If some of those players had come through to the last 8, then maybe you would have thought differently.

Among the players in Monte Carlo that I consider strong are Sander Lylloff, Mochy, Michi, Falafel, Stick, MCG, Tore Fredriksen, Pia Jeppesen, Martin Foldager, Braconi + a lot of other good players that are maybe not so well known but who can still easily play a 4 or a 5 and therefore represent a threat to anyone.

The World Championship is the oldest and most prestigious championship in the world and just because it's a fixed venue doesn't change this.
