True that voting for the Giants list is easier done than voting for the Giants list.

But most europeans care more for the world championship than the giants list.

As an example I know that only 8 Danes bothered to vote for the 2009 giants list. 10 Danes are participating in the champ flight in Monte Carlo and I am sure that travel & accomodation & entry fee is as expensive for a Dane as it is for an American.

Hence, I don't really buy your point. If you want to become the world champ, chances are you will have to travel, no matter the venue.

I think Monte Carlo is a great venue because of many things but most of all because of all the rich guys who enter.

The rich fish in the champ flight should be considered added money and no doubt help attract some of the good players. Hence, the rich guys in MC are a plus to the tournament.
