I'm not sure this is true. Variance reduction is used to estimate the luck of the rolls in a game. It shouldn't make a difference whether the player is strong or weak or better than the bot or whatever. However, if the bot grossly misunderstands the position then its estimate of how lucky your rolls are will be off.
