In Denmark we have had some "anti luck tournaments" lately.

The concept: The player who wins the match gets a point. The player who plays with the lowest ER also gets a point. So possible to score 2 points in a match.

Typically round robin format in groups and knock out in later stages.

This format gives a considerable edge to the strong players but doesn't guarantee that they will win so still possible to have intermediates want to try their luck.
