Two fishes in the final, or: Stick is wrong

In Response To: Final (mtuhtan)

Well, maybe we have one player who has no racing formula whatsoever and another one who handles the cube like a chicken.

OR: Sticks judgement on Malas is just plain wrong. Who knows?

Who cares?

BG is just a game of luck, and so it happens that year after yaear you find some fish in the finals of the biggest events on a regular basis. And I hope that both players play an ER of 8 or even worse, because this would be good advertisement for future tourneys. Everybody would think: Hey, I can play like that too! Lets storm the next tourney!

If you would find only players like O'Hagan, Wachtel, Trabolt and Mochy (and maybe in the distant future StickMachine)in the big finals then pretty soon no mediocre players would try their luck and spent some 2000+ Euros on a week at MC. In no time there would be only 35 or 50 players in the open field of every 'big' tournament in the world.

And another good thing: If the fish cashes big, chances are that he will play more events in the future losing quite a chunk of his big payoff and therefore giving the money to those who deserve it (well, who think they deserve it).

I think CMK said it pretty good: consider the wealthy fish as added money.

PS:

I have never heard about the two finalists, so I don't know how good they realy are. Maybe both will play quite well below ER of 4?
